Speaker:  Dr. Roy Rea

  1. What new information or knowledge did I learn from this presentation?

Answer: New information by Dr. Roy Rea was moose are better served when we leave more mature forests for thermal and security cover and promote the growth of young mixed hardwood/softwood stands for foraging.

  1. Are there particular aspects of the presentation you enjoyed or intrigued you and are there others that could have been improved?

Answer: Presentation content mentioned about Silvicultural Racism by a Flaming Moosologist. This topic was interesting as it mentioned that we cannot love softwoods and hate hardwoods for the same reason that we cannot love game and hate predators; moose might agree with the former, but not the latter. Though moose are having a hard time articulating what they’d like to see happening on the landscape, so I will attempt to speak for the moose. I really enjoyed Dr. Roy Rea presentation.

  1. Are there components of the research that would be applicable or relevant to your own Masters research?

Answer: It’s my 1st year M.Sc. NRES (Environmental Science) and have plan to work on Environmental pollution especially heavy metal in contaminated soil, water (ground water, surface water) pollution and Management of oily waste from marine oil spill response. Dr. Roy Rea presentation was more about Wildlife ecosystem. I believe some of his information will help me on my future project.

  1. How well did the speaker respond to questions and is there a question you would have asked given in opportunities?

Answer: I didn’t ask any question.
